Vision for South Dakota: Democrats vs. Republicans

South Dakota voters on Nov. 3 will choose among Republicans, Democrats and independents when they elect all 70 members of the state House of Representatives and all 35 members of state Senate. How do Democrats and Republicans differ in their state party platforms, their perceptions of significant issues, their vision for the state and the caliber of their candidates?

Republican state Sen. Jim Bolin of District 16, assistant majority leader, and Democrat Jamie Smith of District 15, House minority leader, will discuss where their caucuses are aligned and where they diverge. Rotarian and life-long journalist Jack Marsh will moderate the program.

The presentation, at the club’s regular weekly meeting, will be held at the Holiday Inn City Centre, Sioux Falls and will begin about noon. All Downtown Sioux Falls Rotary Club programs are open only to Rotarians and their guests. Please use this link to reserve your lunch that will be available beginning at 11:30 am. You can eat during the meeting or take it with you after.

Face masks will be strongly encouraged for all attending. Distancing protocols will be followed.

All programs are recorded and streamed live on Facebook & YouTube. Local media are invited to attend to record the session.
