Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I was born and raised in Minnesota, but moved to Sioux Falls fifteen years ago to attend Augustana University. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in 2013 and have been pursuing my career in the nonprofit sector over the last decade. When I’m not working, you can usually find me volunteering at one of my favorite local charities, including The Banquet, Levitt at the Falls, or the Bishop Dudley House. I am passionate about advocating for marginalized communities and have carried that passion with me while I serve in the South Dakota House of Representatives.
Why did you join Rotary Club of Downtown Sioux Falls?
For years, I have heard about the passion and dedication behind the downtown Rotary Club and its members and the good work they accomplish. When I took the time to research more opportunities to be involved, I realized that the Rotary Club was the perfect fit for my schedule, career, and passion for volunteering!
As a new Rotarian, what are you looking forward to most?
I am still very new to Rotary, but I can see the long-term benefits that I will gain through my involvement.
What other clubs/boards/nonprofits are you involved with?
I am on the board for The Transformation Project, Building Sustainable Connections, and the Sioux Falls Homeless Task force.
Do you currently mentor as part of the Sioux 52 Initiative? If so, what has your experience been like?
I am signed up to participate and will be learning more about the Sioux 52 Initiative and how I can get more involved. I know that investing in our community’s youth is key to building a sustainable future and I’d like to do my part making that happen.
